Carnivals

Carnivals bring out the real Stingrays team spirit. Wherever we go, we bring big effort, enthusiasm, encouragement and great sportsmanship.

Race the wider swimming world

Our club attends friendly carnivals, development meets and A-grade qualifying meets during the season. They are a great way for swimmers to put their training and club night work into practice, and to race neighbouring clubs at regional and state level.

With a wide range of events, every member can get involved regardless of age or ability. Every swimmer is encouraged to join the team.

How do I find out when meets are on?

Meets are listed on the calendar, in the weekly email and in our private Facebook group.

Does it cost extra?

Most meets charge a fee for each race entered. The cost is shown clearly when you nominate through Swim Central.

How to enter a meet through Swim Central

Meets outside Samford club nights are entered through Swim Central.

  1. Log in to Swim Central.
  2. Select Events from the left-hand menu, or use Locate an Event.
  3. On the calendar, a blue dot under a date means a meet is on. Select the date, then View Event.
  4. The Details tab has dates, contacts and closing dates. The Entries tab lists the races your swimmer is eligible for.
  5. Select your swimmer in the Nominee box and check they are representing Samford.
  6. Select the "+" next to each race. Races your swimmer has not qualified for will not show, or will be marked ineligible. The cost is shown above each "+".
  7. For more than one swimmer, pick the next swimmer from the Nominee box and repeat.
  8. Select the cart or Make Payment, check the entries, and remove anything you do not want.
  9. Enter payment details, agree to the terms and conditions, and select Buy Now. You will get a confirmation email.

Meet and marshalling information is emailed by the meet's Race Secretary before the event. Questions can go in the Samford WhatsApp group, or to the meet's Race Secretary, whose details are on the event's Details tab.

The Stingrays team at the Bronte Barratt Shield
Our home carnival

The Bronte Barratt Shield

This event honours Bronte Barratt OAM and her contribution to swimming, our local community and the Samford Stingrays.

The Shield has run since 2015, after our first carnival drew 270 swimmers to the Samford Pool. It is a friendly team competition between invited clubs, with the emphasis on fun and good sportsmanship.

The 2025/26 Shield was held on 29 November 2025. The 2026/27 date will appear on the calendar once confirmed.
